Lynn & Phil's Yorkshire wedding.

Lynn and Phil got married on a mild July day at St John's Methodist Church in Swinton, South Yorkshire. When they’d asked me to be their wedding photographer we did a little engagement photoshoot.

The day started out with the bridal preparations.

Before moving on to the church.

When we met up for the couple’s engagement shoot we also had a look around the church which gave me an opportunity to figure out what angles were going to work best on the day, think about lighting and just generally get a feel for the place – something I always try to do well in advance of the big day so that I’m as prepared as I can possibly be.

Whilst at the church I noticed that there was a mezzanine area above the entrance – a new feature created by the recent renovation and modernisation of the building – and quickly hatched an idea (after sweet-talking the caretaker and stewards!).

So on the day, with some help from James I was able to get some angles covered that otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to on my own. It took a stepladder to get up there which of course had to be removed for the ceremony itself so James had to stay up there for the duration!

After the ceremony we moved on to the Park View club for the reception.

Phil and the best men delivered hilarious and emotional speeches, and there was even a special gift from Kevin McCabe, the chairman of Sheffield United. It was a great moment and one, like many others that day, that I was honoured to have been able to capture in photographs for the bride and groom.
