Photo restoration is something I'd been wanting to try my hand at for some time, so after asking around I received a couple of old photographs from a relative.
There was quite a bit of damage to them, and one had been cut down to an awkward size, so I was excited to get to work and see if I could restore them.
As you can see, they needed some work doing! Pieces missing, edges damaged, folds and creases - through the eyes on both photos!
Time and patience were required, but Photoshop CC made it enjoyable work. And here is how they came out:
In particular with the photo with the car, I didn't want to tinker with it too much and remove every last little crease and blemish - it is still supposed to look like an old photo after all, which is what it is! Whilst admittedly, they aren't perfect, I'm happy with the results and looking forward to trying some more out to hone my skills.
Side by side for comparison:
The biggest problems I encountered were reconstructing the eyes on both and also rebuilding and cropping the second photo - it is a very small photo to begin with and I didn't want to lose any more of the frame but it did need straightening up.
